Designblok, the Prague International Design Festival, takes place from 2 to 6 October 2024 and this year’s theme is “YOUTH”, which will present the work of young talents and renowned designers. The festival will take place at prestigious venues across Prague, including Prague Castle, the Museum of Decorative Arts and the Museum of the City of Prague. Visitors can look forward to exhibitions focusing on contemporary Czech and international design, from furniture to fashion and jewellery. The programme also includes workshops, lectures and a retrospective exhibition by Bóda Horák. A festival pass will ensure entry to the lectures and all the main exhibitions.
From 12 to 31 October 2024, the Ornamental Garden will host a unique autumn pumpkin exhibition inspired by the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos. Visitors can not only enjoy beautiful pumpkin arrangements, but also take part in creative workshops, pumpkin carving and the traditional Halloween lantern parade. Weekend workshops will offer the creation of masks and pumpkin characters, while the final day, 31 October, will see a celebration of Halloween with an evening parade through the garden. The whole event will be accompanied by a rich programme and refreshments, including soups, pancakes and mulled wine.
On Saturday, 23 October 2021, another year of the popular Polívkování event will take place on the Smíchov embankment, where visitors can expect a day full of delicious soups from domestic and foreign cuisine that will bring a true autumn atmosphere. There will be traditional Czech soups such as potato soup, kulajda and pumpkin soup, as well as exotic variants such as Russian borscht, Mexican chipotle and Japanese ramen. For vegetarians, there is a selection of vegetable and legume-based soups served with fresh bread and sweet desserts. Come and enjoy the best soups and discover new recipes in a relaxed atmosphere!
The Festival of Delectable Flavours will take place on Sunday 6 October 2024 at the New Town Hall in Prague and will offer a gourmet experience with dishes from all over the world. Visitors will taste Mexican, Peruvian, Indonesian, Sicilian, French and Austrian specialties, as well as food from the USA, Argentina and other countries, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. The festival will take place not only in the historical premises of the Town Hall, but also in the courtyard and the adjacent park, which guarantees a unique atmosphere. The all-day programme from 10 am to 6 pm promises an unusual combination of tastes, aromas and cultural activities in the heart of the capital.
Car Festival Prague 2024 will take place on 26-27 October at PVA Expo Prague Letňany and will offer three main exhibitions: the BSR Tuning Expo, Racing Expo and Classic Expo. Hundreds of unique cars, from modified cars to racing machines to vintage vintage cars, will be on display on an area of 38,000 m². The accompanying program includes workshops, meetings with professional racers, auctions, musical performances and other activities for the whole family. The festival is the perfect place for car fans of all generations.
On Sunday, 6 October 2024, CHILLI FEST will take place on the Embankment in Prague together with the Asia Food Festival. It will offer spicy dishes from various Asian cuisines, more than 70 stalls with chilli products and an accompanying programme, including a chilli eating competition (14:00-16:00). The event is free of charge, parking is available in OC Nový Smíchov or on the adjacent streets. Don’t forget to get a Chilli Fest T-shirt as a souvenir!
The Signal Festival, which will celebrate its 12th anniversary, will take place from 10 to 13 October in Prague and will bring unique experiences of digital and creative culture. This year’s edition, entitled Ecosystems II: Journey / Adventure, focuses on the theme of journey as a metaphor for knowledge and growth, offering visitors the opportunity to discover new values and paradigms in the context of technological change. The festival will present 14 major art projects including installations by international artists such as United Visual Artists, Bill Fontana and Filip Hodas. In addition, there will be an accompanying exhibition The Red Pill at Trafo Gallery, which presents Czech artists working with light technologies. The festival is curated by Pavel Mrkus and the visual identity of the festival was created by Jan Brož and Jan Novák.

The festival aims to promote Czech coffee culture and connect coffee lovers at all levels. There will also be a cultural programme for adults and children.
