Designblok Prague

For five days in October, Prague will transform into a design capital as it hosts the 28th edition of the international Designblok festival from October 7 to 11, 2026.

Central Europe’s largest design and fashion showcase centers on the theme of “Light” this year, offering hundreds of installations, exhibitions, and accompanying events. Light serves as a symbol of knowledge, truth, hope, and life. The festival will focus on the influence and role of design in society. Curated exhibitions, exhibitor installations, discussions on the Designblok Stage, and the Designblok Talks conference program will explore light in both practical and symbolic terms.

The festival will present a vast array of creators, studios, and brands from the Czech Republic and abroad, including names making their festival debut—such as London Light, steelup, What a Hut, Mo Tong, and Felmera. The exhibition program will span several iconic Prague locations: the Trade Fair Palace (Veletržní palác), the Chapel of the Holy Cross, the Industrial Palace at the Exhibition Grounds, the Prague Castle Riding School, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, and the UMPRUM Technology Museum. Visitors can look forward not only to new collections and products but also to a rich accompanying program featuring lectures, conferences, fashion shows, and discussions.

The headline exhibition will be a showcase of Central European lighting and lamps from the 1950s through the 1980s, curated by Eva Slunečková in collaboration with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. At the National Gallery Prague, Maxim Velčovský will create a monumental light installation for the Small Hall of the Trade Fair Palace, under the curatorial guidance of Michal Novotný and Michaela Kádnerová. Installations and new products from leading Czech lighting manufacturers and designers will also be showcased.

With over 40,000 annual visitors, Designblok is one of the most significant cultural events in the Czech Republic. This year’s 28th edition promises an unforgettable, inspiring experience for both industry professionals and public.
