This year’s Prague International Design Festival named Designblok will take place from 4 to 8 October 2023 in Prague Castle Ballroom, Veletržní Palace, the largest exhibition space of the National Gallery Prague, and for the third time the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
Come to the anniversary 25th edition of this biggest contemporary fesival of design and fashion in Prague.
The festival will feature a wide range of activities for everyone, such as exhibition but also a workshop, discussions, lectures, and art sales. If you love art and design, Designblok is the event for you!
About some exhibitions:
Designblok Cosmos. A traveling exhibition, a showcase of contemporary Czech design and a materialized manifesto of our shared values. The travelling gallery containing ten original works in glass by a dozen top designers will premiere at this year’s Designblok in the Prague Castle Ballroom and its first stop abroad will be Milano Design Week in April 2024.
The Museum of Decorative Arts will follow the success of last year’s exhibition of family companies and manufacturers called Family Silver, organized in cooperation with Forbes magazine. This year, the local Openstudio together with Vogue CS magazine will present a new exhibition project High Craft. The curatorial selection will introduce the work of leading Czech designers and studios that artfully combine traditional crafts, innovative approaches and the highest aesthetic standards in their work. Designblok will dedicate a separate exhibition to the unorthodox Dutch designer Ineke Hans. As part of the festival, she will bring to Prague a collection of sustainable and completely recyclable chairs called REX.
The exhibition spaces of the Trade Fair Palace will focus primarily on the presentation of Czech and international design innovations in the traditional Superstudio and Openstudio formats, i.e. on the one hand international brands and manufacturers, on the other designers and design studios.
