1. Varius on Ice
In February, Varius Circus will perform "Varius on Ice" for the first time in Hungary. All genres of modern circus arts will be represented in the ice show, so jugglers, acrobats, gymnasts, magicians, as well as clowns, will perform impressive stunts. A troupe of some of the world's top artists from different countries will perform on 4 February from 5 pm.
2. Carnival at the Zoo
The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden is organising a two-day carnival event on 4 and 5 February. A colourful programme of activities will include spectacle clowns, face painting, crafts and interactive activities. The Schäftner carousel will be open to visitors on both days, and there will even be a carnival parade with music and costumes.
3. Book Sale
There's a great opportunity to pick up some exciting new books for yourself or a loved one at a good price in February. The Alexandra Publishing Group will be moving into the Rákóczi Square Market Hall on the 4th with a wide range of flawed but valuable books. More than 15,000 different books will be available to visitors from as little as 200 HUF, you will be able to browse not only the books with small blemishes, but also immaculate ones on sale.
4. Bath & Picnic
A relaxing bath and picnic will take place on 15 February as part of Experience Balkan. Participants will get an insight into the history of the Gellért Spa, try out the spa's pools, saunas, steam baths and even try the healthy thermal water. The complex wellness program will be followed by a relaxing chat in a nearby catering establishment.
5. Finnish Film Days
This February, the Finnish Film Days will bring you the best of contemporary Finnish cinema. The Toldi Art Cinema will host screenings from 15 to 19 February with English and Hungarian subtitles. The program includes films such as Girl Picture, Compartment No. 6, the Cannes award-winning The Woodcutter Story and Just Animals.
6. Bogárbál Family Concert
The Makám band celebrates Carnival with a family concert on 12 February. The interactive event aims to show the relationship between animals and humans, especially animals and children, and to bring children closer to nature. This time, one of the oldest representatives of ethno-folk and world music in the country will invite not only the little ones but all the members of the family to play.
7. International Exotic Animal Expo
TerraPlaza Budapest, the international exotic animal expo and fair, will be held for the 46th time this year. The event will feature over 120 Hungarian and foreign exhibitors and a huge selection on 19 February. The best of the industry will be present at the event, so you will be able to see the new species first hand and learn all about keeping each species.
8. Interactive Family Programs
Müpa's popular interactive family event series returns in 2023. Every Sunday until May, the "Cifra Palota" will offer a variety of activities for children and adults alike, during the morning hours. The inspiring cultural environment is the ideal setting for creative, musical, artistic and playful activities.
9. Fran Palermo Concert
Fran Palermo takes to the stage of the A38 Ship to open the 2023 concert season. The highly successful, Hungarian indie-rock band has been on the national music scene since 2011, having played on numerous stages and festivals. On 4 February, the band will also invite English rock musician Dennie Wander.
10. Indoor Beer Festival
This February, Hungary's only winter beer festival, Indoor, will move to the Hotel Marriott with a panoramic view of the Danube. As usual, the festival will offer unlimited beer tasting and a wide range of multicultural and craft beers. On Friday and Saturday, Csaba Katona will enrich the program with cultural history and a beer-drinking competition, but of course there will also be delicious food to taste.
