1. Open Cellars Day

Also this year, the winemakers of the Small Carpathian region will invite you to their cellars. You can enjoy not only this year’s young wines, but also those that have been aging in barrels for a few months. More than 120 cellars of small and large winemakers from Bratislava to Trnava will be open. Good wine also includes delicious food, which will not be missing this year either. In addition to the wine, a cultural programme will ensure a great mood. The entrance fee is 50 Eur and the package includes not only a tasting in the cellars, but also a bonus on the purchase of wine worth 25 Eur, a tasting glass, a glass bag, an orientation map and a nice surprise.

2. Theatres night

This major European event annually presents theatre in a creative way. As the organisers promise, during the night you can explore, discover, engage with the productions or just sit back, take it all in and let the theatre take you away all night long. This year the doors of Slovak theatres will stay open longer than usual. And you have a chance to see your favourite company’s performance. There will be no shortage of them, this year 58 theatres, cultural institutions, centres or art schools in 30 towns and villages across Slovakia will be involved. Just take a look at the programme and take your pick.

3. Oktagon

And now from a completely different angle. The best MMA and adrenaline sports show awaits you at the Ondrej Nepela Stadium. The current middleweight champion and former interim champion Wawrzyniak versus number three ranked Mazuch. In addition, Robo Pukač will meet one of the most experienced MMA fighters in the world, Ivica Trušček, who has 83 fights under his belt, in the cage for the first time in 15 years. OKTAGON will also feature the winner of the 5th series of the Paulus challenge fighting the Finnish fighter Elonen-Kulmala, who returns after more than two years.

4. The Nutcracker

Since it is getting colder and Christmas is coming soon, the November selection cannot miss Nutcracker. And not just any performance, apart from Tchaikovsky’s beautiful music recorded by the symphony orchestra, you will also see the best ballet dancers from the Wiener Stadt Ballett, figure skaters from world shows, and aerial acrobats from the Olympic Games. How is this possible? A new performance on ice is coming to Slovakia in cooperation with the world-famous company Ice Empire, which has such projects as Stars on Ice, Champions on Ice and many others. Together with the Wiener Stadt Ballett, they will present a unique combination of ice show and ballet in Bratislava. Attention, this show can be seen by fans of The Nutcracker only in six European countries and Slovakia is one of them.

5. Coffee Tea Chocolate Festival

A popular festival that belongs to the cold November weather. In the Old Market Hall you can once again enjoy the scents of the best coffees, teas and also delicious chocolate. There will also be side events such as books and art, workshops, Latte Art Show, Roastery Bar and Coffee Music. With a ticket for 10 euros you will not only get exceptional tastings, but also the festival newspaper and the festival bag Coffee Tea Chocolate.

6. Ružinov Folklore Festival

In November you can look forward to another popular festival. The Ružinov Folklore Festival is back after a year and will once again offer traditional Slovak folk songs and dances. Several folklore ensembles from all over Slovakia will perform, such as DFS Kremienok, FS Karpaty, FS Poľana or Čarovné ostrohy. The festival will also include the world-renowned exhibition “Trón” by Pavel Surov, a Slovak graphic designer and fashion photographer from Serbia.

7. Wine tasting 

After two successful previous editions, Wine in the Marketplace returns for the third time. This is the winter edition of the popular summer wine and music festival Wine Under the Stars. You can taste young and older wines from twenty winemakers from the Lesser Carpathian region. There will also be good food and good music. All this in the pleasant premises of the Old Market Hall.

8. Vrakuna Run

You can run even in November! And if you combine running with scares, the fun is taken care of. The Halloween edition of the Vrakuna Run offers runners and walkers a 5km, 10km or Nordic Walking 5km. There will also be a special program for families with children. For the little ones there will be a walk through the spooky forest with Halloween surprises. The start is in the Buffet at the Lookout Tower and since it is Halloween, the start is not until 18:00.

9. 90s rock party

Finally, here’s a tip for people in their prime. Fifty-somethings, come and reminisce about your youth, which was full of grunge, alternative rock and legendary bands! Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Oasis, The Cure, Metallica, The Cranberries, Pulp, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more legendary bands from the nineties. DJs Babika and Rado Mesha will be playing all night, accompanied by the live band Blackbirds. Dress appropriately, pull out your flannel shirts, sneakers, white tank tops, “carrot” jeans and leather miniskirts and come and have fun.

10. Muflón Ancijáš

You must know the fairy tale of Braňo Jobus about the mouflon Ancijáš. So imagine that Ancijáš made it all the way to the Slovak National Theatre, directly to the Opera House. You can enjoy the adventures of the lovable mouflon, who loves his sweatpants and likes to make others happy, on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre with music by Slavo Solovic and directed by Michal Spišák. The “father” of Ancijáš, Braňo Jobus, the author of the stories and the libretto for the children’s opera, will also be present as a narrator.

11. The universe of John Williams

We have one more special event for you, which will take place at the beginning of December. You shouldn’t miss the original show with light effects, which has never been seen in Slovakia before, especially if you are a fan of Star Wars, Harry Potter or Indiana Jones. The Prague Film Orchestra together with guest conductor Pete Harrison will pay tribute to the most famous film music composer of all time. You can look forward to immortal songs from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter or E.T.; Jaws or Indiana Jones. There will also be the opening track from Schindler’s List or the music from Home Alone. John Williams himself will be speaking to the audience, of course, from the screen.
