On the third Saturday of November each year, Slovak theaters stay open much longer than usual – after all, it’s Theater Night. The 16th annual Theater Night 2025 will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The nationwide event Theater Night refers to European Theater Night and presents theater in a creative way during an unconventional time frame on the third Saturday in November. During Theater Night, the audience can explore, discover, get involved in the action, or just sit back, relax, and let themselves be carried away by the theater all night long.
Theatre Night 2025 is themed “This act belongs to us,” inviting everyone to share the experience and create the story together. The theatre becomes a meeting place where the audience and creators share time and space and create a unique moment. The idea of a shared story is also reflected in the visual identity, which connects people, places, and stories into a single whole.
The visual aspect was once again handled by the talented graphic designer Dominika Valentovičová. The main poster depicts small figures of ordinary people whose large shadows turn into theatrical characters – reminding us that in the theater, everyone can become part of the story and a co-creator of the action of this exceptional evening.
Keep an eye on your favorite program, maybe they will join in too. You can look forward to productions, great theater performances, lectures, and discussions. Participating theaters are preparing not only performances, but also backstage tours, quizzes, staged readings, exhibitions, and other activities.
The 16th edition features theatres, cultural institutions, centres and art schools in 34 towns and villages across Slovakia.
Theatre Night can best be described by three attributes: openness (as a necessity on the part of theatres), interaction (as an element of play and action on the part of the audience), and interconnection (as the ability to create networks between the public, theatres, institutions, and cities).
