From 20 to 23 March, the Old Market Hall will host a unique Sashe market with an emphasis on imaginative design, unique handmade products and quality craftsmanship. Fashion for adults and children, jewelry, natural cosmetics, stylish home accessories, toys and irresistible treats await you. Three days full of creativity and unique handmade products that will delight the eyes and the soul.
The exceptional film festival will take place in Bratislava from 13 to 19 March 2024 in Mladosť Cinema, Lumière Cinema, Slovak National Gallery, KLAP Cinema and Jurkovičova tepláreň. You can look forward to Oscar-winning films, new films by winning directors from the prestigious Cannes festival or films screened at other A-list festivals in Toronto, Rotterdam and Venice such as Solitude, The Zone of Interest, Dream Scenario, She came at Night.
Do you like to travel and experience new cultures? If so, we have a great event for you full of ideas and inspiration on how to explore the world and enjoy the beauty of countries like Cuba, Iraq, Mauritania, Afghanistan, Peru, Iceland, Canada, Shikoku, Indian Himalayas, Colombia, Samoa, Reunion, Camino, Thailand, Silk Road and many more. Come to one of a series of 50 mini-lectures that will take place during the Travel Festival from 1 to 3 March at Cultus Ružinov. Not only compatriots, but also travellers from neighbouring countries such as Slávek Král (Czech Republic), Veronika Jiříčková (Czech Republic), Martin Půlpán (Czech Republic), Antonín Voldřich (Czech Republic), Marek Olczak (PL) will give lectures about their travels. There will also be moderated discussions, great music and food stalls from exotic destinations.
How about taking the kids away from their ipads and phones and taking them to the theatre? Nová scéna Theatre has prepared a musical adaptation of the world-famous novel Oliver Twist, directed by Stano Slovák. The powerful story about children and adults who were not destined to be born into happy and festive conditions contains much that is touching, humorous, but also harsh. Expect beautiful melodies, brilliantly portrayed characters from London’s underworld, super performances from the small cast and lots of fun.
For anime lovers, we have a great event this month. Over the weekend of March 22nd you can look forward to the long-awaited AnimeSHOW, which will take place in the House of Culture Ružinov. You can expect various workshops, film screenings, games, pc tournaments and of course a unique cosplay show where you will see characters from various anime series live. There will also be autograph sessions, contests and quizzes and of course discussions with the authors. This packed programme will be complemented by a tea room, fast food stalls and food straight from Japanese cuisine.
It is a tradition that the first Saturday of the month belongs to Burzoblšák, and this month will be no different. On Saturday, March 2, you’ll be able to stop by this community event to support an eco-friendly swap of clothing as well as handmade products, records or antiques. After all, who wouldn’t already want to find and take home something beautiful and, most importantly, organically sourced. Of course, there will also be refreshment stalls, in case you get hungry after the endless search for the best pieces.
For fans of crime fiction and for those who are fascinated by psychology, we have an interesting event. On Wednesday, March 6, there will be a lecture at Kacečko in Kamenné náměstí where you will be able to learn more about what leads people to commit violent crime and why some of them feel the need to repeat their actions. The lecture will be led by former investigator, profiler and criminal profiler Matej Snopek, who will give us an insight into the world of serial killers and their victims. At the event you will also learn things such as what is the modus operandi, what prompts the choice of the murder weapon and how these perpetrators find their victims.
An evening full of humor, improvisational talent and topics worthy of discussion will be experienced on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Kacečko in Kamenné Square at an event called Pančlajn. Eight comedians you all know well will be vying for your favor: Juraj Šoko Tabaček, Tomáš Hudák, Joe Trendy, Matej Makovický, Marián Psár, Zuzana Galková, Samo Trnka, Bedña. Come and watch their performance and have a good time.
This time we have something for vegan food lovers. The third Sunday in March will belong to the Vegan Feast in the Old Market Hall. At the feast you can taste not only healthy and delicious food or drinks, but also producers of cosmetics and drugstores produced in accordance with the vegan philosophy, which means only plant origin and no testing on animals, will offer their products. There will also be lectures, discussions, a cookery show and other accompanying events.
Street food parks are finally back and the first one this year will take place from 20 to 24 March. Stop by the square in front of the Old Market Hall, where you can enjoy an amazing selection of street food on Sundays.
