Bratislava welcomes one of the greatest artists in the music world. Opera legend Plácido Domingo is coming to Bratislava with a spectacular gala evening! Plácido Domingo will perform on the occasion of his 85th birthday at a gala concert at the Peugeot Arena on March 17, 2026.

The charisma of the legendary singer will be complemented by the artistry of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, which is honored to accompany one of the greatest opera masters of all time. The program will feature dramatic arias, duets, and orchestral compositions from Italian, French, and Spanish opera literature.

Why is Placido Domingo’s concert such an exceptional event?

1. Meeting with a legend

Plácido Domingo is one of the greatest personalities in the world of opera and music. During his exceptional career, he has played over 150 roles, performed in more than 4,000 shows, and won 12 Grammy Awards. He is famous not only as a tenor and baritone singer, but also as a conductor, mentor to young talents, and global ambassador of Spanish culture and the zarzuela genre. His name is also forever associated with the legendary Three Tenors project, in which he, Luciano Pavarotti, and José Carreras brought opera to millions of viewers around the world and became a symbol of the union of high art and widespread popularity.

2. A unique gala evening and program

The concert will take place on the occasion of his 85th birthday on March 17, 2026, in Bratislava. This means that it will be a one-of-a-kind “anniversary” concert. The program includes arias, duets, and orchestral compositions from Italian, French, and Spanish opera literature.

3. The evening will be enriched by exceptional guests

Pavol Bršlík, a Slovak tenor of international renown who shines on stages in Berlin, London, and New York. The winner of prestigious awards is known for his brilliant technique and charismatic performance, making him one of the most prominent representatives of the Slovak opera generation.

Another star of the evening will be Adriana Kučerová, a soprano acclaimed for her delicacy, coloratura virtuosity, and sensitive stage presence. The winner of the prestigious Belvedere competition in Vienna has won over audiences on international stages and is one of our most successful opera singers.

Teo Gertler, a young Slovak violin virtuoso and winner of the Virtuosos competition, will also add a special dimension to the concert. He has already won the recognition of the world music public with his musicality, technical bravura, and emotional expression. Although he is only 17 years old, he performs on major stages at home and abroad and is considered one of the greatest talents of his generation.

The arrival of soprano Yelena Dudochkin on the Bratislava stage is eagerly awaited. This exceptional artist, whose masterful interpretations of works by Verdi, Massenet, and Tchaikovsky have won over audiences around the world, combines technical brilliance with a deep dramatic sensibility. Yelena Dudochkin is simply one of the most captivating voices on the contemporary opera scene.

The entire gala evening will be conducted by Rastislav Štúr, long-time chief conductor of the Slovak National Theatre Opera and a renowned interpreter of major vocal-symphonic works. His experience, sense of dramatic gradation, and precise work with the orchestra promise an evening full of artistic tension and emotion.

3. Significance for Bratislava

Bratislava (and specifically the concert venue) will be the setting for this major event, which is a tribute to the local music scene.

4. Classical music

What’s more, if you don’t have much experience with opera, this could be a wonderful “introduction” to the world of classical music.

5. Uniqueness and unrepeatability

The Slovak audience remembers him from 2010, when his first concert in Bratislava was described by the media as the event of the year and the maestro surprised the local audience with the song Silent Night in Slovak – a moment that was remembered as magical and unforgettable.

Don’t miss this exceptional event in Bratislava.
