Almost Proud Princess is an original Slovak family musical by Michal Babiak and Milan Malinovský. It is loosely based on the Czech folk tale Potrestaná pýcha from the collection of Božena Němcová Národní báchorky a pověsti II. The fairy tale is well known thanks to the 1952 film adaptation starring Alena Vránová in the title role.
This fairy tale differs slightly from the literary or film version, as it was created for the theatrical environment. The audience can look forward to new plot twists and new characters – the wicked witch Czernorada, the funny jester, or the confused King Midnight.
