The extremely popular French Day is returning to Bratislava once again. On Main Square, you can join French people living in Slovakia in celebrating the storming of the Bastille, a symbol of the “old regime,” which was attacked and captured by Parisians on July 14, 1789, marking the beginning of the French Revolution. As part of the celebrations, you can enjoy famous French desserts, cheeses, and drinks. Lovers of the French language, sports, and cosmetics will also find something to their liking. There will also be creative activities for children and young people.

Sports and entertainment in one? Try techno yoga! Techno yoga combines traditional yoga exercises with electronic music, especially techno or deep house. It includes yoga positions (asanas), similar to power yoga, which focus on flexibility, strength, and balance. Power yoga helps you recharge your batteries and reduce stress, while rhythmic music helps you synchronize your movements with your breathing. And finally, techno yoga allows you to meet new people who are on the same wavelength as you. Techno yoga is great not only for advanced practitioners, but also for beginners.

The legendary Jan Blomqvist is coming to Slovakia with his fantastic live performance, and not just anywhere, but right on the shore of Lake Wakelake. An exceptional evening awaits you, during which electronic music will meet concert energy, live instruments, and beautiful vocals. Jan Blomqvist has played over a thousand concerts around the world, performed at several festivals, and in 2024 he founded his own label, Disconnected, into which he poured his vision of combining deep house, melodic techno, and live performance. And in July, you can enjoy him live right in Bratislava.

This year, the beautiful gardens of the Albrecht House will once again host chamber music concerts entitled Domus & Hortus artis 2025. You can look forward to eight concerts featuring several chamber ensembles performing music from various historical periods, focusing on the phenomenon of French music and its influence on other cultures, including Slovak music. This extremely popular festival will feature nearly a hundred works performed by more than 60 artists from Slovakia, as well as the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland, Greece, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark.

What is a hoax? What is its purpose? And why do so many Slovaks believe them? You can hear the answers to these questions at the presentation of a book by Dávid Púchovský, a former member of the Police Force who spent seven years on the front line of the fight against fake news. He will also present examples of the most common hoaxes that Slovaks have believed, from false reports about diseases or medicines, to fabrications about political or public figures, to fabricated reports about dangers. You will also learn how to defend yourself against hoaxes, how to verify information from reliable sources, and how to learn to be critical of sensational and shocking claims.

If you enjoy good food and boat trips, this is ideal for you. In July, you can enjoy a cruise on the Danube while sampling fresh fish specialties, whether it be pikeperch, barbel, or catfish, as part of the Fish Specialties on the Waves of the Danube cruise. If you prefer traditional Slovak cuisine with an unusual twist, try Slovak Cuisine on the Waves of the Danube. A delicious three-course menu including a welcome drink awaits you.

Good food, a blanket, and entertainment. That’s all you need for a medieval picnic. You can also listen to a concert of period music, watch fencing performances, knights, and even an interactive battle for children. Of course, there are also various food stalls.

The traditional antique market in the beautiful surroundings of Červený Kameň Castle will also be held in July. If you like beautiful things that breathe history, come to the castle on Saturday morning. At the market, you will find unique antique furniture, books, paintings, photographs, coins, many gramophone records, antique clocks, music boxes, and many other historical trinkets and larger items.

For an incredible 50 years, Bratislava has been home to the Cultural Summer. You can enjoy the cultural program at traditional venues, but also in lesser-known locations—in squares, gardens, city walls, and cultural centers in city districts. Fourteen city districts have also prepared a program, and several city organizations will be involved. Concerts, lectures, creative workshops—there is something for everyone during the cultural summer.
