Screening of a documentary by Serbian director Srdan Keča about the unfinished construction of the museum.
“The wind came up in the night and took away our plans,” reads the saying in the opening credits of the Museum of the Revolution. These words are a reference to the 1961 plan to build a large museum in Belgrade as a tribute to socialist Yugoslavia. The plan, which was supposed to “secure the truth” about the Yugoslav people, never went beyond the construction of a basement. The abandoned building now tells a very different story from the one the initiators imagined 60 years ago. In the dank, black and dark space live the outcasts of a society transformed by capitalism. The film focuses on a girl who earns her living on the street cleaning car windows with her mother. The girl has a close friendship with an older woman who also lives in a basement, and against the backdrop of a transforming city, the three women find refuge in each other.
