Take part in the first edition of the Red Hot Chilli Festival in Prague, offering spicy news from the world of peppers, seeds, seedlings, varieties, flavours and spicy experiences of all kinds. The event will take place on 19 May at Cross and visitors will have the opportunity to taste and buy chilli, food, meet industry experts and be inspired by new recipes! For home growers, there will be a neighborhood seedling and seed exchange, tastings, contests and more.
The Maker Faire will take place at the Prague Exhibition Centre from 11 to 15 May. Its sixth edition will be a celebration of contemporary DIYers, makers and innovators and will offer a unique showcase of creativity and ingenuity for the whole family. A variety of talks on robotics, electronics, innovation, DIY tutorials and much more await over the two days. If you enjoy making more than watching, you can also take part in Make Faire workshops for children and adults.
Book lovers should not miss this event, which will take place from 23 to 26 May in Prague 7 – Holešovice. The main focus of this year’s event will be “Das Buch”, a project bringing together the German-speaking countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The organisers have prepared a rich programme for all age groups, including children, who will have the opportunity to meet various authors and illustrators of children’s books, learn something new or just watch a theatre performance. As always, participants can purchase books at discounted prices.
Enjoy a little bit of France and Italy in Prague from 24 to 25 May. Come to an amazing celebration of French and Italian culture at Holešovice Market Hall in Prague 7. Immerse yourself in an authentic experience with delicious food, great wine and captivating live musical performances. From authentic Italian pasta, succulent seafood and delicious cheeses to irresistible French desserts. There will also be a wide range of cocktails for refreshment and enjoyment.
The popular arts and crafts market will take place in Prague from May 3 to 5, from May 17 to 19 and from May 31 to June 2 – on Palach Square! During the weekend you can look forward to crafts, a small street food festival, live musical performances and of course – various art workshops! For those who get hungry during the event, there will also be several street food delicacies such as pljeskavica or various burgers and much more. The event is suitable for families with children.
Don’t miss this month’s biggest celebration of music. The first weekend of May (3-4 May) will see the 21st United Islands of Prague festival, which will showcase local and international music scene discoveries that will become stars in the future. In addition, the organisers have prepared various workshops, discussions and lectures on the themes of freedom, diversity and sustainability. This year, the Gastro Zone or Gastro Islands will showcase trends in sustainable food.
On the third Saturday in May, 18th May, you can look forward to a renowned festival of rosé wines and clarets from more than 25 Moravian and Czech winemakers. Come to Rašínovo nábřeží where you can enjoy good wine, delicious drinks and great music. The festival is also environmentally friendly, as throughout the festival the winemakers will be pouring exclusively into festival glasses that have been made just for the event. Sounds great, right?
An annual May sporting event that all Prague residents know is the Run for the Memory of the Nation! The running event takes place not only in Prague, but also in various cities across the country. In Prague, the event will take place on 11 May in the Prague 6 district. Do not hesitate and take your children with you. You can look forward to theatre and sports workshops for children and adults. And face painting.
On 18 May, you will have the opportunity to come and see the most interesting military equipment and armament in Prague. A rich programme is prepared by the shopping centre in cooperation with the Army of the Czech Republic. As you might expect, there will be an exhibition of military equipment, recruiters will present visitors with opportunities to join the armed forces, study at military schools, serve in the active reserve and participate in voluntary military exercises. Soldiers will demonstrate close combat, rappelling, military cynology and a parade of army uniforms.
If you want to taste delicious street food on Sunday, come to the Smíchov Embankment on 4 May, where the annual Street Food Festival will take place. As always, you can look forward to seeing your favourite vendors and a few newcomers offering modern street food gastronomy. There will also be spicy skewers, chilli delicacies and even insects. The whole event will be accompanied by great live music.
