Waldstein Garden

Waldstein Garden, located within the Waldstein Palace complex in Malá Strana, Prague 1, is one of the most beautiful and significant Baroque gardens in the Czech Republic.

It is part of the seat of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and represents a harmonious blend of architecture, nature, and culture in the very heart of historic Prague.

The garden is divided into several sections and offers visitors both an aesthetic and relaxing experience. You’ll find four fountains, decorated vases, and replicas of Baroque statues by the Dutch sculptor Adriaen de Vries. Special attention should be given to the ornamental pond with an island and a statue of Hercules, home to various species of fish and waterfowl, including wild ducks and freely roaming peacocks.

One of the most remarkable features of the garden is the artificial dripstone wall with caves – so-called grottoes. Inside these caves are owl aviaries, and with careful observation, you can spot faces, animals, and fantastical creatures among the stalactites. This element adds a mysterious and playful character to the garden.

During the summer months, the garden becomes a cultural hub. Concerts and other events are held in the Sala Terrena as part of the Cultural Summer in the Waldstein Garden program. Admission to these events is free for the public, making them a great cultural tip for both locals and visitors to Prague.
