We have discovered for you a unique exhibition called An Embellished Journey through Slovakia. From 12 January 2025 until 31 January 2025 you will be able to see all the limited edition jewellery and photographs of costumes from 25 traditional regions of Slovakia live in the Eurovea 2 on the 0th floor.
The jewellery on display will also include a crown and jewellery created for the Women’s Downhill Skiing World Cup Jasná 2024.
Slovak folk costumes reflect the rich cultural heritage of Slovakia. Each region has its own unique style, colours and patterns, often influenced by local traditions, history and the natural environment. Traditional costumes are usually made from natural fibres such as wool and linen. They often feature intricate embroidery, lace and colourful patterns with motifs that may symbolise local flora, fauna or historical events.
Different styles can be found in different regions, for example the colourful costumes from the Slovak Paradise, the intricate patterns from the Terchov region and the unique clothing from the Horehronie region. The costumes of each region reflect local customs and traditions.
Folk costumes are usually worn during festivals, weddings and cultural events and serve to celebrate and preserve Slovak heritage. Contemporary designers are also incorporating traditional elements into modern fashion, bridging the gap between the past and the present.
