A conversation about Bratislava with historian Julia Itin and photographer Štefan Cipar about pavements and tiles in Bratislava.
Researcher Julia Itin and photographer Štefan Cipár spent three years mapping Bratislava’s pavements and tiles – they managed to get behind the gates of several hundred historic houses in the Old Town, Palisády, around Obchodna Street, the Main Station and Blumentál.
Their unique collection of tiles was also published in book form – in 2023 by Black Holes. Photographs of the cobbles are accompanied by stories of the people who walked on them a hundred years ago.
