Open Mic Night Bratislava

Do you have the words, do you have the flow and the desire to perform? Then come to SOM – Slam Open Mic and shout proudly, “I AM here too!” on Saturday, March 15, 2024 at Signal Bar. 🎤🔥

Slam Poetry is a performance poetry competition where the winner of the night is decided by the audience, who judge the content and structure of the writers’ lyrics as well as the performance itself – use of movement, stage and audience interaction. You can expect an evening full of emotions, fun, laughter and tears.

SOM is a space for everyone who wants to become a part of Slovak slam poetry!

There are only three rules:

– Author’s text
– Performance for max. 4 minutes
– No costume or props

After the open mic, the shared joy of words will be replaced by the joy of movement at the after party!

The event is organized by Signal Bratislava in cooperation with OZ Slam Poetry SK, which since 2016 has been providing a space for those who wish to share their work with a live audience in Slovakia.

Slam Poetry Open Mic is an event where you can showcase your own original work on stage and in front of an audience. Unlike traditional poetry readings, slam poetry features an emphasis on audience engagement. Participants usually compete against each other, but at a Slam Poetry Open Mic it’s more informal and anyone can enter. The goal is to connect with the audience, express personal stories or social commentary, and showcase creative use of language. The atmosphere is usually dynamic, energetic and interactive.

And the audience? You have the opportunity to experience new jokes from your favourite comedians and, if you find the courage in yourself, grab the microphone too – who knows, maybe you’ll be the next stand-up star? At the very least, though, this is a great programme for an evening out with friends.
