The Over the Threshold Festival traditionally commemorates the phenomenon of housing cultural events of the 1970s and 1980s, and each year the programme features key names or important themes associated with the idea of 17 November. The festival takes place in an intimate setting in several locations in Bratislava: in the café of Rómer’s House, in the Flatgallery, as well as in an apartment at Strakova 1 or at Námestí SNP 16.
However, the apartment also plays an important cultural role nowadays, and therefore an equally important component of the festival is to present contemporary progressive art forms that fit into the festival’s dramaturgy in terms of format. In the current edition we are preparing, for example, a swap of apartment plants with the writer Marek Hudec, a meditative reading of Slovak haiku, a discussion on possible scenarios of further development after November ’89: , a lecture by Prof. Foletti and many others.
