Paris, the roaring twenties. Choreographer Ida Rubinstein chooses Maurice Ravel to compose the music for her next ballet. She wants something bold and sensual. But Ravel, already a celebrated and respected composer, suddenly finds himself unable to write anything at all. As he revisits memories, confronts old loves, and faces his own failures, the composer dives deep into his past. In this sensitive portrait of an artist, he ultimately brings to life his greatest and most famous work — the iconic Boléro — which secures his place forever in the history of classical music.

A powerful story inspired by the life, work, and imagination of writer Franz Kafka, whose vision was far ahead of its time. Vegetarian, workaholic, introvert, outsider, lover through letters, and bureaucrat trapped in a nightmare. Franz is filled with imagination, humor, pain, and the inner world of a man who defined modern existential anxiety through his books. Even a hundred years after his death, Kafka remains a mirror of our deepest fears and desires. Director Agnieszka Holland creates a kaleidoscope of events from fragments, dreams, letters, and surviving stories, resulting in a sensually intense portrait of a man who never stopped searching for himself — and through that search touched something essential in all of us.
