A trip to space

In January 2026, children can set off on an adventurous journey beyond our planet thanks to the educational program A Trip to Space, which takes place on weekends from 10:30 to 11:00 at Štefánik Observatory in the center of Prague.

This educational show is designed for children aged 7 to 10 and introduces them to the basics of astronomy in a playful and engaging way. During the program, young viewers embark on an imaginary space journey through the Solar System and into more distant regions of the universe. Their guide is a cheerful cosmic traveler who explains how the universe around us works in a clear and entertaining manner.

Children will learn fundamental facts about planets, their moons, asteroids, and other bodies within the Solar System. The program also looks beyond, into deep space—exploring stars, star clusters, nebulae, and distant galaxies. Structured as an introductory overview, the content matches the knowledge level of primary school students, making it ideal both for school-aged children and for curious young explorers just beginning to discover space.

A Trip to Space combines imagination, play, and learning, offering children an accessible and fun way to understand the basic principles of astronomy. It is a great weekend activity for families who want to blend entertainment with education and inspire children’s interest in science and discovery—both on Earth and beyond.
