Orangutan Day at the Zoo

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, the Prague Zoo will host International Orangutan Day, which raises awareness about these critically endangered great apes and the dangers they face in the wild.

Would you like to learn more about orangutans—their lives, their favorite activities, or what orangutan mothers are like? Then don’t miss a visit to the Prague Zoo on Saturday to celebrate International Orangutan Day.

Guided tours and special enrichment activities for the Sumatran orangutans await you. Through fun, interactive activities, you’ll learn facts about their lives and conservation efforts. Orangutans are among the most endangered animals on the planet. In their natural habitat, they face habitat loss, and their numbers are declining.

Programm:

3:00 p.m. – Enrichment presentation for Pagy, Diri, and Harapan (Indonesian Jungle – outdoor exhibit)

10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. – Guided encounters with the orangutans every hour on the hour (Indonesian Jungle – outdoor exhibit)

10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. – Into the Jungle to See the Orangutans (Indonesian Jungle)

Play area for children

All activities take place in the Indonesian Jungle area (outdoor exhibit), where you can see the orangutans up close and learn more about their lives.
