On Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Výstaviště Praha 7 will host the fifth edition of the NeverMore 68 festival, commemorating one of the darkest anniversaries in our modern history – 58 years since the Warsaw Pact troops invaded the former Czechoslovakia.
The NeverMore 68 festival is organized in cooperation with the Díky, že můžem association and other institutions such as Dárek pro Putina, Paměť národa, Charles University, the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, and other partners. Their goal is not only to commemorate historical events but also to foster a discussion about freedom, democracy, and responsibility for the future.
This year, the festival will focus on the theme “Stories of those who were missing here.” It serves not only as a memorial to the tragic victims but, above all, as a reminder of the massive wave of emigration that followed August 1968.
What awaits you at Výstaviště? The program is highly diverse and engaging. The podcast stage will host interviews and debates with experts, historians, and eyewitnesses, shedding light on the era and its significance today. Furthermore, you can look forward to concerts by Czech artists, adding a cultural dimension and an atmosphere of both remembrance and hope to the entire event. Last but not least, there will be exhibitions dedicated to the year 1968 and a summer open-air cinema screening Taking Off – Miloš Forman’s first American film, offering a biting look at the lifestyles of two generations of Americans.
If you are interested in Czech history and culture and wish to commemorate a crucial moment in our past, do not hesitate to come to Výstaviště in Prague 7 on August 21. A day full of interesting encounters, inspiration, and a reminder of the values that unite us awaits you.
