The Botanical Garden of the Capital City of Prague in Troja is one of the most beautiful natural spots in the city, where the beauty of plants, scientific research, and a space for relaxation come together.
The garden spans approximately 25 hectares in the Troja Basin and offers a wide range of exhibits, including the unique Fata Morgana greenhouse, the St. Clare’s Vineyard, and the picturesque Japanese Garden.
The most famous part of the garden is the tropical Fata Morgana greenhouse, open year-round from Tuesday to Sunday, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore exotic flora from around the world. This modern greenhouse is divided into three climate zones, simulating conditions of tropical rainforests, mountainous regions, and dry tropical areas.
The first exhibition was opened to the public in 1992, covering an area of 3 hectares. Designed as a park, it features a diverse selection of plants, including perennials, annuals, medicinal herbs, and rare trees. In 2023, the outdoor exhibits were connected to the Fata Morgana greenhouse by a walkway, allowing visitors to move more smoothly throughout the entire area.
Diverse Exhibits
In addition to the main exhibition, visitors can explore other fascinating sections of the garden:
Japanese Garden – A peaceful space inspired by traditional Japanese elements, featuring native plant species and a traditional tea house.
St. Clare’s Vineyard – One of the oldest vineyards in Prague, offering wine tastings.
Peony Meadow – A collection of tree and herbaceous peonies, created in collaboration with botanical gardens from around the world.
North American Prairie – An exhibition dedicated to North American plants, dominated by perennials and tall grasses.
mEDU Garden – An exhibition focused on nectar-producing plants and bees, ideal for families with children.
The garden is wheelchair accessible and offers various relaxation options—from benches in the shade of trees to a stylish gazebo with the St. Clare’s Wine Bar. Picnic lovers can enjoy a dedicated picnic area at the Sequoia Meadow, where blankets and picnic baskets with refreshments are available for rent.
The Prague Botanical Garden is an ideal place for relaxation, education, and inspiration. Whether you seek peace in nature, knowledge of new plants, or simply a beautiful environment for a walk, Troja has everything you need.
