The Christmas Markets at Old Town Square in Prague will once again become a symbol of magical advent atmosphere this year. From 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, the heart of the historic city center will turn into a fairy-tale place attracting visitors from all around the world.
The main highlight of the markets will be, as every year, the magnificent Christmas tree, whose decorations will enchant both children and adults. The tree, sourced from Czech forests, will be ceremonially lit during the traditional opening ceremony that launches the entire advent program.
Visitors can look forward to a wide selection of stalls offering original Christmas gifts, handmade decorations, and traditional Czech crafts. Adding to that will be a rich variety of delicious festive treats – from fragrant trdelník and mulled wine to Czech specialties such as bramboráky, sausages, and mead.
Every day, you can immerse yourself in Christmas music and a rich cultural program. Choirs, folklore ensembles, and various musical bands will take the stage, contributing to an unforgettable festive atmosphere. Creative workshops will be available for children, allowing them to craft their own Christmas ornaments. Once again, the tree illumination show will take place daily, running every half-hour from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The program also features the International Advent and Christmas Music Festival—lasting over four hours—a St. Nicholas show with a band of devils and angels, the Czech Christmas Mass “Hej mistře,” and, of course, New Year’s Eve celebrations and New Year’s songs.
The Christmas Markets at Old Town Square are the perfect place to soak up the true festive spirit, discover Czech traditions, and experience the magic of Christmas in the unique setting of historic Prague.
