ALSA invites families with children, fans of swimming and paddleboarding to the 4th annual Prague City Swim charity race, which will take place on Saturday 18 June on Střelecký ostrov in Prague. Participants will support patients with incurable amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – ALS.

Prague City Swim is a charity, international and unique project. “Swim to help” is the traditional motto that will accompany the fourth year of the Prague City Swim charity race. On 18 June 2022, ALSA invites recreational and professional swimmers and paddleboarding enthusiasts to take part in the race, during which it will be possible to compete in the waters of the Vltava River in the centre of Prague around Střelecký ostrov with each other and with representatives from the ranks of famous personalities and leading Czech athletes. The main motivation for participation, however, remains the support of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The money raised through entry fees and attendance at the event will be used for physiotherapy, personal assistance to patients and multidisciplinary consultation and support.

Again this year, swimmers will be able to choose a shorter (600m) or longer (1650m – around the whole island) race course. On the shortest course (200 m), children and patients will be able to demonstrate their swimming skills, as well as swim on a paddleboard and be guided to the finish line with the help of their teams. The patient race is also one of the most emotional parts of the whole event. Paddleboard and team megaboard racers will have a pleasant ride around the entire island (1650 m).

The first edition of the Prague City Swim took place on 5 September 2019. Amsterdam City Swim, which was first held on 9 September 2012 in the canals of Amsterdam and then in London (London City Swim).
