On Saturday, September 26, the Vltava River in Prague will be transformed into a racecourse for the Czech Republic Long-Distance Dragon Boat Championships.
At the KVS boathouse, racing crews from various age categories will compete on 3- and 5-kilometer courses.
Since dragon boat racing is a team sport, spectators are often captivated by the perfect coordination that is essential to the sport and, from a spectator’s perspective, is also visually striking.
Both small 10-person and large 20-person boats will compete in the MIX, OPEN, and WOMEN’S categories. Junior and veteran crews will also take to the water, so the program will feature a variety of race types.
The championship will also mark the end of the Czech Dragon Boat Association’s season, and the awards ceremony for the year-long competitions will take place after the races.
