The tradition of welcoming winter and the arrival of Saint Martin in Prague will once again take place in historic settings. On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:11 a.m., a ceremonial procession will set out from the 11th pillar of Charles Bridge.
Program:
Saint Martin of Tours, dressed as a Roman soldier, will ride—as is tradition—on a white horse. He will be accompanied by 11 geese with 11 goose girls, a horse-drawn wagon filled with snow, and a company of Roman soldiers. The procession will cross Charles Bridge, and a ceremonial presentation of the season’s first snowfall to the Mayor of Prague will take place at Křižovnické Square.
A medieval market also awaits you at Křižovnické Square, featuring roast goose from a Czech farm, St. Martin’s pastries, and a selection of wines.
