Sound of Library Jori Josiphson

The Old Town Library has prepared a series of three events based on experimental sound performances. Three ambient and experimental projects will be presented under the title The Sound of the Library, which deliberately paraphrases the well-known hip-hop Sound of the Street.

With its minimalist compositions and a trip into a drone ambient landscape, the project called Untitled Sea, behind which is the Bratislava-based musician and composer Jori Josiphson, will delight.

JORI JOSIPHSON – UNTITLED SEA

Jori Josiphson (real name Juraj Polgáry) is based in Bratislava, where in 2017 he graduated in Musicology – Dramaturgy and Music Management at the Faculty of Music and Dance of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. This composer of new, experimental music is the founder of the civic association Vakuum, which aims to present creators of ambient, atmospheric and experimental music in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. For a long time he has been organizing a series of concerts (J)other spheres, in the cities of Prague – Brno – Bratislava. Every year he also organizes Drone Day Bratislava concerts, focused on new, drone and experimental music. Among other things, he works at RTVS as an external music editor of Radio Devín (he prepares the shows Musica vocalis and Music at Five – Sounds and Waves), he is also the head of the production crew (production for the broadcast of Radio Devín).

In 2015, he founded the musical project untitled sea, which is characterized by ambient, minimalist and drone work, whose main idea is the feeling of the vagueness of the moment and diving into the depths of one’s own knowledge. Until recently purely acoustic music is enriched with electronics, with the main representative of this project dedicated to the symbiosis of electronic and acoustic sound. His research is based on the search for a certain balance.
