Opera Rusalka in Bratislava

Dvořák’s Rusalka is far from being just a romantic fairy tale. On the contrary, it reveals a multitude of symbolic and psychological meanings unseen at first sight, depicting not only the battle of sincerity with hypocrisy and betrayal, but also the eternal battle of light and darkness, the dream of eternity and the reality of mortality. The main character may be a water fairy, but her heart is also full of deep human feelings – longing and love. In fact, she is always alone – she has to make her own decisions and face the tragic consequences of her choices. Dvořák’s opera is full of dazzling musical beauty and is one of the theatrical works that will appeal to any viewer seeking answers to life’s most complex questions.
