Cooking shows are rather popular these days. “Moja mama varí lepšie ako tvoja” (My mum´s cooking is better than your mum´s), “Prostřeno” (The table is set)… we made an art of preparing our food. New variations, experiencing new flavors. These programs, whole channels (American Food Network) are doing their very best to share the experience of food, to make sure that you are as close to the food as possible via your television. On the other hand, barely any attention is paid to a source of said ingredients, to the way how they influenced our society historically and economically. There is a whole drama surrounding our kitchens – and this time, potato is set as a star of the show in the hybrid of cooking show and theatre play.
