I bike Budapest

Budapest is once again preparing for one of the most significant cycling events of the year: the 10th I Bike Budapest Cycling Parade. This joyful ride and demonstration aim to promote a city where cycling is accessible to everyone because where it is good to cycle, it is good to live. Thousands of participants will come together to celebrate sustainable urban mobility, creating an unforgettable atmosphere on the streets of the capital.

The parade will take place on April 26, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM from Városháza Park. The route will lead through several iconic locations, including Kossuth Lajos Street, Erzsébet Bridge, Clark Ádám Square, Andrássy Avenue, and Hősök tere, before concluding on Margaret Island, Nagyrét, where the traditional bike lift is expected to take place around 5:00 PM.

Special Highlights

This year, the event will be opened by Désirée Bonis, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Hungary, representing the world’s most cycling-friendly country, which has supported Hungarian cycling development and the I Bike Budapest movement for over 15 years.

For families and young cyclists, the I Bike Mini initiative will provide an opportunity to advocate for a Budapest where every child can ride a bike safely and freely.

Programs Before, During, and After the Parade

• Star Ride (Csillagtúra): Participants can cycle to the starting point in groups from different districts and towns, encouraging a communal ride spirit. Local organizers will coordinate these rides, ensuring a smooth arrival at Városháza Park.

• Cycling Merchandise: Exclusive I Bike Budapest T-shirts will be available, with proceeds supporting future cycling advocacy efforts. Participants can purchase them at the starting area or the finish location.

• Photo & Video Sharing: Participants are encouraged to capture their experiences through photos and videos, contributing to a shared community memory of the event.

How to Get Involved?

The success of the event relies on volunteers and supporters:

1. Spread the Word – Invite friends, share event details in online communities, and help promote cycling culture in Budapest.

2. Become an Organizer – Approximately 350 volunteers are needed to ensure a smooth and safe event. Those interested in assisting with coordination are encouraged to sign up.

3. Poster & Sticker Distribution – Supporters can place posters in local bike shops, universities, offices, and cafés to raise awareness.

Important Guidelines

To maintain the event’s positive atmosphere, commercial activities, political promotions, and reckless cycling are strictly prohibited. Participants are asked to respect fellow riders and follow the guidance of event organizers.

The I Bike Budapest Cycling Parade remains a community-driven event, proving year after year that Budapest can become a truly bike-friendly city.
