Bratislava Cultural Summer

The Bratislava Cultural Summer celebrates its 51st anniversary this year. Once again, an exceptional program and entertainment await you all summer long.

For half a century now, it has been making summers in the capital city extraordinary—concerts, theater performances, films, discussions, exhibitions, sports, and children’s programs flourish throughout Bratislava.

From July 1 to August 30, Bratislava’s squares, hidden historic courtyards, parks, and city walls will be transformed into a festival zone filled with concerts, summer movie theaters, discussions, and neighborhood gatherings. But it won’t just be lively in the city center—thanks to the involvement of city districts, organizations, and the Support Program, high-quality culture will flood the entire city of Bratislava as part of the 51st annual Bratislava Cultural Summer. 🎭🎻🎬

From Partizánska Meadow, through Janka Kráľ Park, the City Walls, and the Poor Clares, all the way to Mičurin and Freedom Square—culture thrives not only in the city center but also in unconventional and newly discovered venues, in collaboration with city districts and organizations.

The cultural stage at Janka Kráľ Park will welcome children to ten theater performances on Sunday mornings. The cultural and creative space at 6 Biela Street will be transformed into a Green Oasis, with its interior showcasing the work of young artists. Concerts featuring top artists will include the J. K. Mertz Guitar Festival, Domus & Hortus Artis, Viva Musica!, and “Tribute to Freedom.” The traditional Summer Shakespeare Festival will also take place.

Karel Plíhal will perform at the Klarisky Concert Hall, and this year’s Divé Maky Gala Concert will also take place. The International Festival of Slovak Historic Organs invites you to the opening concert of its 35th edition, featuring a historic organ in the former church.

For all active senior residents*, the Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, and BKIS are organizing the 16th edition of the Bratislava Summer University for Seniors. This popular educational and cultural project will offer a rich program full of inspiration, knowledge, and shared experiences.

The House of Music will welcome visitors in the historic courtyard. Concerts with unusual musical guests will fill the city every year, and on Wednesdays it will be transformed into a summer cinema.

The popular Evenings on the Walls will allow you to get to know the city walls and surroundings from a festival perspective.

Film classics will be screened on selected evenings during the summer days again at the Mičurin Amphitheater.

The symbolic end of the festival will also be spectacular – not only in terms of the size of the performing musical groups, but especially in terms of the program. The program will begin on Friday, August 28, with a concert by the Demovnice Rádia_FM and the bands and DJs that appeared on the show. The opportunity for an unconventional theatrical experience will be offered on Saturday, August 29, by the Ján Palárik Theater in Trnava with the performance Filip. The final farewell to summer will be the gala concert of the Slovak Philharmonic on Sunday, August 30.

Until the end of September, there will be open-air dancing on Freedom Square thanks to the Fountain Dancing project.
