The Gingerbread House was originally created as a work for a close family circle and eventually became a joy for the whole world.
A large orchestra plays small children’s songs, bravura instrumentation envelops catchy melodies, and despite this, the clarity of the folk song and the colorful fairy tale atmosphere are preserved.
The children’s opera The Gingerbread House is presented in a new Slovak retelling by Ján Štrasser and with Slovak subtitles.
Content:
Janko and Marienka make their mother angry and she sends them into the forest. However, their father is worried – a witch lives in the forest. The children arrive at her gingerbread house, the witch catches them, wants to bake them and eat them. However, thanks to clever Marienka, the witch herself ends up in the oven. The children, transformed into gingerbread, come back to life and the parents are greeted by Janko and Marienka.
The production is suitable for audiences aged 5 and over.
