The Nutcracker

The wonderful performance of The Nutcracker belongs to winter and Christmas and we can’t miss it this year!

The SHOW SLOVAKIA agency brings to Slovakia a new performance on ice for the whole family, the likes of which has never been seen in Europe before. In cooperation with the world-famous company Ice Empire, which has created projects such as Stars on Ice, Champions on Ice and many others, and the Wiener Stadt Ballett, they are presenting a unique combination of ice show and ballet “Nutcracker”.

This show will be seen in 6 European countries only, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and we are proud that the sixth country will be Slovakia.

You can look forward to:

– the best ballet dancers from the Wiener Stadt Ballett

– figure skaters from world shows

– aerial acrobats from the Olympic Games

– Tchaikovsky’s music recorded by the symphony orchestra

The unique scenography of the performance will allow the audience to watch not only the figure skaters perform on the ice, but also the ballet dancers on stage.

A special stage will be set up on the ice where ballet artists from the Wiener Stadt Ballett will perform. In their vicinity on the ice surface you will see great skating performances by Europe’s top figure skaters, participants of world figure skating shows, as well as acrobatic and dance numbers performed by professional circus artists and ice dancers. It all comes together in one amazing whole.

A colourful light show, breathtaking costumes as well as incredible performances by all the artists promise an unforgettable experience.

The famous Nutcracker ballet, thanks to the transformation of the space into a magical stage, together with visual effects and multimedia technologies, will show the familiar story in a new way to surprise and make the show attractive even for the youngest spectators.

The performance will be accompanied by P.I. Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet music, specially recorded by the symphony orchestra for the occasion.

Nutcracker:

The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is the second most famous ballet in the world in terms of recognition and number of performances. It was first performed on 18 December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

The story takes place on Christmas Eve at the home of Doctor Stahlbaum with his wife and children, daughter Maria and son Franz. Maria’s godfather, Drosselmeyer, brings her a present, a puppet of a soldier named Nutcracker, about whom he tells her a beautiful story.

The gala evening ends and the guests disperse. Marie returns to the living room to take one last look at the Nutcracker left under the Christmas tree and suddenly everything begins to change. The tree grows and with it the room turns into a huge hall. The toys as well as the Nutcracker come to life and mice appear in the room, led by the Mouse King. They are confronted by the brave Nutcracker with a small army of Christmas toys. Marie will not abandon her hero and helps him.
