Gin Fest Bratislava

Gin fest is coming to Bratislava again! On September 13, a celebration of the art of gin awaits you with star bartender Rusty Cerven. Lovers of fun, fresh gin cocktails and quality gin are invited to the Devín Hotel in Bratislava on Friday 13.09.2024.

Bratislava will become the venue of one of the most anticipated events of the year for lovers of quality alcohol. The fifth edition of GIN FEST BRATISLAVA 2024 promises visitors an unforgettable experience full of flavours, aromas and inspiration in the premises of Hotel Devín.

The main star of this year’s festival will be the world-famous mixologist Rusty Cerven. This Slovak native, who has developed into one of the most respected names on the world cocktail scene, will lead an exclusive masterclass where he will showcase his unrivalled knowledge of gin and creative cocktail mixing techniques.

“Our goal is not only to introduce the diversity of the gin world, but also to educate the public about the history and culture of this fascinating spirit,” says Andrej Nikodem, the event’s organizer. “We want to show that quality gin can be enjoyed in moderation and style.”

Rusty Cerven, winner of the prestigious Bols Around The World competition (2013), adds: “I’m honoured to return to Slovakia and share my passion for gin with other enthusiasts. This festival celebrates the skill and creativity that make gin such a versatile and popular spirit.”

GINtime with Andrej Nikodem, director of Gin Festival Bratislava

1. Andrej, how did the idea of organizing the Gin Festival in Bratislava come about?

The idea came from our passion for quality spirits and from observing the growing trend of gin popularity in Slovakia. We wanted to create a platform where gin lovers, industry professionals and curious newcomers could meet. The first edition in 2017 was an experiment, but the response was so positive that we decided to continue and develop the festival every year.

2. What can visitors expect from the 5th edition of the Gin Festival?

This year we have put together a truly exceptional programme. Visitors can look forward to presentations of more than 50 types of gin from all over the world, interactive workshops led by top bartenders, interesting lectures on the history and production of gin, as well as culinary pairings of gin with food. A new feature is a live musical performance and set with DJ CHARLIE BROWN special GLITTERBALL SET on the terrace, which will create a unique atmosphere of LIVE GIN MUSIC GARDEN.

3. How is Gin Festival Bratislava different from other similar events?

Our festival focuses not only on tastings, but also on education and the overall experience. We strive to create an environment where gin enthusiasts, industry professionals and curious newcomers can come together. In addition, we place great emphasis on sustainability and responsible alcohol consumption.

4. What trends are you currently seeing in the gin world?

In recent years we have seen a big increase in interest in craft gins and gins with non-traditional botanicals. People are increasingly curious about the story behind each bottle and interested in the provenance of the ingredients. We’re also seeing a trend towards low-alcohol or even non-alcoholic gin alternatives.

5. How does the festival contribute to the development of gin culture in Slovakia?

Gin Festival Bratislava serves as a platform for introducing new brands and trends in the gin world to Slovak consumers. At the same time, we provide a space for domestic producers to present their products and thus support the development of the local market. Our educational activities help to raise awareness of the quality and diversity of gin.

6. What would you say to those who are still hesitating to participate in the festival?

Gin Festival Bratislava is not just about drinking alcohol, but about discovering new tastes, learning about traditions and meeting people who share a passion for quality spirits.
