Knights at Devín

The popular event Knights on Devín returns to Bratislava, this time you can also admire knightly duels and past times on Devín.

We invite you to a real journey in time – after all, we will be transported from one period to another by about 1400 years!

Program August 2, 2025

In the middle of summer and holidays, you should treat yourself to an unusual experience – for example, at Devín Castle in the company of various historical figures, beautiful ladies and brave knights.

Visit history and enjoy a great program!

What awaits you?

10:00 a.m. – Opening of the gates of Devín Castle

11:00 a.m. – Opening ceremony full of fencing and archery

12:00 p.m. – Performance of “God’s Courts”

How were legal disputes resolved in the Middle Ages? For example, with duels to the death.

1:00 p.m. – Oriental dances

Dances with the atmosphere of the mythical Orient with veils or sabers.

2:00 PM – Performance “The Secret of the Slavic Sword”

A story from the Slavic environment, which is related to the archaeological find of an old sword.

3:00 PM – Magic Window

Puppet show about the journey of a knight and his friend – a bunny.

4:00 PM – Tournament of the Brave

A medieval-inspired fairy tale story, where brave knights on horseback, as well as an evil and uninvited knight, compete for the hand of a beautiful princess.

How will the knights’ duels proceed and who will ultimately own the princess’s heart and hand? Will love or honor and duty prevail?

5:30 PM – Recital of period music, prose and poetry

A selection of prose and poetry performed by fencing master Peter Koza, complemented by live musical background from the given period.

6:30 PM – Closing ceremony full of fencing, dancing and waving flags

7:00 PM – End of event and closing of the castle

Throughout the day, there will be all kinds of entertainment and activities available:

– archery range with bows, crossbows, and knife throwing
– riding on live and wooden horses
– children’s corner with various games (catapult, stilts, throwing at a unicorn
– rings, ring tossing on swords, ball tossing at a dragon)
– craft and sales stalls, refreshment stand

After purchasing a ticket, in addition to the performances, you can also see the entire castle grounds with all its beautiful nooks and crannies and interesting exhibitions.

The organizer has the right to request proof of eligibility for a discounted ticket (e.g., ISIC student card, senior citizen ID card).

Please note that dogs are not allowed in Devín Castle, with the exception of guide dogs for the visually impaired.
