Urban Market spring edition

Urban Market, a celebration of local design, original art, culture, and diversity, will take place from May 29 to May 31, 2026, at the Faculty of Architecture and Design in Bratislava.

Once again, the design zone will be complemented by a rich program for children and adults and a street food zone on the adjacent Námestie slobody (Freedom Square) beneath the iconic fountain.

🌸 The spring edition will be part of the DAAD 2026 festival (Days of Architecture and Design, www.daad.sk), which annually showcases the best of what’s happening in the field on both the domestic and international scenes.

And as if that weren’t enough, FAD STU is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year 🥳 Those who remember know that Urban Market, together with the faculty, already celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2016. We’re glad to be part of it again and to contribute to the celebrations of a place where many young talents are coming of age.

🌸 THEME 2026: COURAGE

Behind every small brand lies a story of a decision—perhaps quiet, perhaps risky, but always personal—a decision to forge one’s own path, which requires great courage:

* starting from scratch,
* believing in your idea,
* stepping out of the crowd and being different,
* experimenting, failing, and trying again,
* staying local, even when it would be easier to produce quickly and cheaply,
* investing time, energy, and money into something with an uncertain outcome,
* creating sustainably and choosing quality over quantity,
* operating on a small scale and often under challenging conditions.

Local design is not a given, and without the determination and conviction of specific individuals, it would not exist. Courage has become part of their everyday reality, and it is precisely this reality that we want to showcase and celebrate this year. Urban Market stands behind them—behind you.
