Christmas exhibition in Bethlehem Chapel

The Betlémská Chapel in the heart of Prague will once again transform into a magical place filled with the scents and festive atmosphere of Christmas. The Christmas exhibition “Christmas of Many Scents” will delight visitors from November 29, 2024, to January 2, 2025, with not only its thematic focus on scents but also a rich collection of traditional ritual objects made from various materials.

In addition to the typical Christmas scents, such as pine needles, gingerbread, or mulled wine, visitors can look forward to a diverse range of materials. The exhibition will showcase unique exhibits made of paper, dough, metal, textiles, leather, sheep wool, wood, and other natural materials. Along with the scents, the Betlémská Chapel will become a place where traditional crafts and artistic craftsmanship come to life.

“Christmas of Many Scents” is part of a long-standing tradition of Christmas exhibitions initiated by the Bonsai Club Prague back in 1980. This year, the exhibition brings not only classic and modern Christmas scents but also a stage for children’s groups who will perform Christmas plays and sing carols.

Visitors can look forward to the scents of incense, myrrh, and frankincense, valuable resins used in ancient times for religious ceremonies and healing. There will also be the smells of burning candles, gingerbread dough with spices, chocolate, and marzipan.

For curious visitors, there will be an alchemical laboratory where the techniques of essential oil distillation and other interesting processes will be demonstrated. The exhibition will also feature performances by children’s choirs, school groups, and nursing homes, creating a lively and inspiring environment.

The Christmas exhibition at the Betlémská Chapel thus becomes a meeting place where Christmas traditions come to life and offers a unique experience for all visitors.
