Christmas in Prague Zoo

Prague Zoo has once again prepared an exceptionally rich Christmas program for its visitors, combining festive atmosphere with unforgettable moments among animals. From December 22 to 31, 2025, the zoo will come alive with traditional and special guided feedings, meetings with keepers, and the beloved giveaway of unsold Christmas trees.

From Christmas to New Year’s Eve full of animal surprises
Every day, visitors can enjoy guided feedings and encounters with the zoo’s most captivating species — from penguins, giraffes, and elephants to gorillas, pangolins, and Tasmanian devils. The program begins on December 22 with the start of the Christmas holiday series featuring all-day feedings in Darwin Crater, the African House, the Dja Reserve, the Indonesian Jungle, and other pavilions.

Christmas Eve at the zoo: gifts for the animals
On Christmas Eve, visitors can bring their own gifts for the animals — such as carrots, apples, or nuts. Every generous visitor will receive a small token of appreciation and can enjoy a shorter but festive lineup of special holiday feedings.

December 25–26: animals instead of fairy tales
On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, the zoo offers the perfect alternative to watching fairy tales at home. Guided feedings run all day and include species such as orangutans, tayras, tapirs, Tasmanian devils, and sambars.

December 27–28: popular weekend feedings
During the weekend, the zoo continues with a dynamic program featuring a wide variety of feedings — from kangaroos and aardvarks to giant tortoises, reptiles, and elephants. Visitors can also look forward to seeing gorillas or pangolins in the Indonesian Jungle.

December 29–31: the great Christmas tree giveaway
A beloved year-end tradition is the distribution of unsold Christmas trees to the animals. From December 29 to 31, different species will receive the trees each day — including giraffes, elephants, polar bears, macaques, lemurs, takins, bison, and Tasmanian devils.

Visitors can watch how each species interacts with this unusual gift — whether they tear it apart, sniff it curiously, use it as enrichment, or turn it into a playful toy. This event is one of the most popular winter attractions at Prague Zoo every year.
