Even though summer is coming to an end, September is packed with great events in Bratislava. It will be a month full of sports, music, science, but also good food and wine. We bring you an overview of the best things happening in Bratislava in September.

1. Bratislava Music Festival

As is tradition, this fall will be marked by classical music. The 61st edition of the Bratislava Music Festival will, as always, offer a high-quality musical experience. The concerts will once again feature several renowned artists, including the Slovak Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, Arcadi Volodos, Gil Shaham, Leonidas Kavakos, Mao Fujita, Michael Spyres, Nikolai Lugansky, and an opera evening with Simona Šaturová and others.

2. Rača Wine Festival

Fall is also inextricably linked to another interesting event: the grape harvest. On the second weekend in September, you can look forward to the traditional grape harvest festival in Rača. In addition to great food and wine, a rich program is in store, featuring performances on the main stage by several well-known acts, including Richard Müller, No Name, Polemic, Gladiator, Pil C, SĽUK, and many others. The municipal garden will serve as a chill-out zone, and there will also be creative craft workshops. Children will also have plenty to enjoy in the kids’ zone.

3. Science Night

The extremely popular European Night of Science takes place on the last Friday in September simultaneously at five festival venues. In Bratislava, the main program will be held at the Old Market Hall, but you can also look forward to an interesting program at the V-Club, Lab.cafe, and the UK Infocenter. In the capital, you can expect 60 science booths, 25 lectures, 7 discussions, and 5 workshops at three festival venues in the city center. The program will also feature a concert and a fusion of science and art.

4. Oldies Party na hrade

Get ready for a real trip back in time! 🕺 Oldies at the Castle will bring the biggest hits of the ’80s, ’90s, and the early 2000s to the unique setting of Bratislava Castle. The headliner of the evening will be the legendary band O-Zone, famous for hits like “Dragostea Din Tei,” “Despre Tine,” and “De Ce Plâng Chitarele.” DJ Flebo and DJ Alan Miles will also ensure a great dance atmosphere.

5. Children’s Sportlandia

Eight sports stations (basketball, gymnastics, soccer, beach volleyball, tennis, fencing, aikido, pétanque, boxing) with professional coaches; host Daniel Očenáš; basketball with six-time Czech league champion Radoslav Rančík; boxing with light heavyweight world champion Tomi KID Kovács; and volleyball with Slovak beach volleyball runner-up Tina Zlatoš Turnerová. In addition, there will be an autograph session, contests, prizes, and exciting partner zones. All of this is prepared for your children. Please note that space is limited and admission is free, so hurry up and register.

6. Sashe market

Discover the latest in the world of handmade crafts, creative designs, and local designer brands in the stylish spaces of the Old Market Hall. The traditional Sashe festival is coming to Bratislava again in September. This time, admission is completely free for everyone, and as a bonus, the organizers are promising an extra day during the traditional food market at the Market Hall.

7. Techno Pilates

Traditional Pilates combined with electronic music, especially techno or deep house, has already found a loyal following. Come join them! You’ll enjoy an experience in a space featuring more than 200 smart lights and extensive LED installations that transform the space in time with the beat.

8. World Music Festival

The 12th annual international music festival will take place at various venues in downtown Bratislava, such as the House of Music, the Klarisky Concert Hall, and the Zrkadlový háj Cultural Center, and will feature performances by outstanding musicians from Slovakia as well as Armenia, Bulgaria, India, Italy, South Korea, Norway, and the Czech Republic. You can look forward to flamenco, tango, folk music, and experimental projects. The festival’s headliners will be The Violin Sisters from India, Maria Mazzotta from Italy, the Arsen Petrosyan Trio from Armenia, and Daaa Chan from South Korea. The Slovak and Czech scenes will be represented by Júlia Kozáková, OĽUN – NEO, Michaela Antalová, and many others.

9. Festival of Watermen

The Karloveské Rameno will be transformed into a magical place where a water sprite and his family, fairies, and pirates await you. There will be fun water sprite challenges—children who complete six tasks will receive a water sprite certificate and a sweet treat. The event will also feature a mini-theater, dance performances, and boat rides on the Karloveské rameno, as well as a water sprite bubble show and the play “Pirates on the Road.” Children can make water sprite masks in creative workshops, and the event will conclude with a contest for the most beautiful water sprite mask.

10. Flea Market Drieňová

The classic flea market is back. This September, you can once again refresh your wardrobe with new and trendy pieces. In addition to clothing, you’ll find, as always, handmade goods, records, paintings, and antiques. There will also be a food court where you can enjoy sweet and savory treats, homemade lemonades, jams, and great coffee. Parents will definitely appreciate the kids’ area.
