Prague Dragon Boat Festival

One of Prague’s most dynamic and visually striking sporting events returns this May. From May 15 to 17, 2026, the Vltava River will once again come alive with the rhythm of paddles during the 29th edition of the Prague Dragon Boat Festival.

As the oldest dragon boat race in the Czech Republic, the festival brings together hundreds of participants from professional teams, amateur crews, and corporate groups. Competitors will race in both small and standard boats, creating an exciting mix of sport, teamwork, and community spirit right in the heart of the city.

The program kicks off on Friday afternoon with the Rotary Dragon Boat Charity Challenge, followed by an evening awards ceremony, party, and live concert. Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to the main races across various categories, including mixed teams, women’s teams, juniors, corporate crews, and fun categories. Participants will compete in both sprint races (200 meters) and longer distance challenges (up to 2 kilometers), with winners celebrated throughout the weekend.

Beyond the competition itself, the festival offers a lively atmosphere for spectators as well. The combination of sport, music, and riverside setting makes it an ideal event to watch, whether you are cheering on a team or simply enjoying the energy along the Vltava.
