On the third Saturday of November every year, the doors of Slovak theatres remain open much longer than usual – it is, after all, the night of theatres. This event is recognised by all Slovak theatres so make sure you arrange your favourite theatre’s programme, maybe they will join in too. You can look forward to productions, super theatre performances, lectures or discussions. Participating theatres are not only putting on performances, but also backstage tours, quizzes, staged readings, exhibitions and other activities.
The 15th edition will involve 58 theatres, cultural institutions, centres or art schools in 30 towns and villages across the country.
Theatre Night is best described by three attributes: openness (as a need on the part of theatres), interaction (as an element of play and action on the part of audiences) and connection (as the ability to create networks between the public, theatres, institutions and cities).
