Pop Fest Vienna

The 15th Popfest Wien will take place from 25 to 28 July 2024 on & around Karlsplatz. The curated festival for Austrian pop music successfully returned to Vienna’s Karlsplatz last year and counted around 60,000 visitors, just as it did before the pandemic began. The Viennese musician and director Anna Mabo will be responsible for the programme of the upcoming Popfest Wien together with the internationally established electronic musician Dorian Concept.

Music journalist Lisa Schneider will be responsible for the programme of the upcoming Popfest Vienna together with author and musician Markus Binder.

After studying literature and art history, LISA SCHNEIDER worked in exhibition management at various art galleries, including the Kunsthalle Exnergasse in the WUK. She wrote for various print and online music magazines and began her journalistic work for ORF at Radio FM4 in the literature and music editorial department in 2015. Today, she is primarily responsible for the programme format “Soundpark”, i.e. new Austrian pop music.

MARKUS BINDER is the drummer and lyricist of the slang-punk country fiction duo Attwenger, which is one of the country’s most important contemporary cultural assets due to its combination of tradition and modernity, gstanzl and techno, and the fusion of words and sound (attwenger.at). The studio albums most, pflug, luft, song, sun, dog, flux, spot and drum have been released to date. He published his books “Testsiegerstraße”, “Teilzeitrevue” and “Tempoänderungen” with Berlin-based Verbrecherverlag, the latter this spring (markusbinder.space). Markus Binder recently won the European Film Award for the original score to Jessica Hausner’s film “Club Zero”.
