On August 30, 2025, Vienna’s Gürtel will be transformed into the city’s longest open-air music mile. Over 30 acts on four stages, as well as numerous clubs and venues, will provide live music, DJ sets, art installations, and a lively atmosphere under the neon arches. From ska to indie to reggae – the Gürtel Nightwalk Festival will rock the night. The party will take place between the Alser and the Vienna State Opera.
Throughout August, the “Cinema on the Roof” on the roof of the main library at Urban-Loritz-Platz invites you to romantic movie nights under the open sky. Daily from 8:30 p.m., visitors can expect a hand-picked film program centered around the theme of “love stories” – with views over Vienna’s rooftops. Blankets, snacks, and a sunset included.
The Vienna Classic Days will bring a nostalgic glow to the city center on the weekend of August 23rd and 24th. Around 200 vintage cars will roll through Vienna, transforming the Ringstrasse and Donaupark into a vibrant automobile museum. The grand parade starts at 6:00 PM on Saturday at Schwedenplatz, followed by further highlights on Sunday around Heldenplatz and Donaupark. A festival for car lovers and nostalgics alike – admission is free.
For four days – from August 21 to 24, 2025 – Neustift am Walde in the 19th district will be transformed into a vibrant wine festival of tradition, music, and community. The Neustift Kirtag features parades in traditional costumes, historical rituals such as the ceremonial Hauerkrone (Hauer Crown), and culinary highlights in the numerous wine taverns along Rathstraße. Brass music, dancing, and local specialties create a true village atmosphere – just minutes from the city center. A special experience for wine lovers and culture vultures!
At Liquid Market Vienna, over 150 bars, bartenders, and brands from all over the world will present their innovative creations—all drinks are included in the admission price. In addition to classic cocktails, guests can expect non-alcoholic creations, street food, DJ sets, workshops, and an atmospheric ambiance blending Art Nouveau architecture with a summer garden flair. The Ottakringer Brewery invites you to its legendary beer festival again from June 26 to August 29, 2025. Every Monday through Saturday, the brewery’s courtyard transforms into a vibrant beer paradise with live music, food trucks, and over 20 beers – from classics to creative craft beer variations. Special highlights such as the “Vinyl & Music Summer Nights” (on August 8 and 9) and open stage evenings make the festival a meeting place for music, beer, and culture lovers. A summer evening in Vienna has rarely been so atmospheric!
On balmy summer evenings, Vienna’s Rathausplatz transforms into an atmospheric open-air cinema. From June 28 to August 31, 2025, the film festival will present music productions such as operas, concerts, and pop highlights daily – with free admission. Culinary stalls will offer international specialties from morning until night. A relaxed cultural experience in the heart of the city.
Vienna’s 12th district will become a stage for urban creativity from August 16 to 23, 2025. The Calle Libre Festival brings international street art to Meidling under the motto “Youtopia.” New murals will be created daily, accompanied by workshops, guided tours, and hands-on activities around the Meidling market. The festival kicks off with a community event and concludes with a big closing party in Gleis/Garten. Admission is free – experience and participate in art.
The magnificent setting of Vienna’s Minoritenkirche will provide the setting for the Vienna Classic Festival from August 14 to 16, 2025. On three evenings, the orchestra Les Orpheistes and renowned soloists will present masterpieces by Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Brahms, and Strauss. The festival kicks off with a chamber music evening with the Rudolf Leopold Cello Quartet, followed by two large orchestral performances in impressive acoustics. Both performances begin at 8:00 PM – classical music of the highest caliber in the heart of Vienna.
When Vienna transforms into a stage for movement every summer, ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival is just around the corner. From July 10 to August 10, 2025, the festival will feature over 50 dance performances at various venues throughout the city – from theaters and museums to public squares. In addition, there are more than 250 workshops for beginners and professionals, as well as daily, free open-air dance classes. A unique opportunity to experience dance up close and in all its diversity.
