The Garden of Straka Academy will be open to the public every Saturday until October 24, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The picturesque garden of Straka Academy—the seat of the Czech Republic’s Government Office—is reopening to the public, offering a chance to explore a representative space usually closed to visitors. Entry is free, accessible from Kosárkovo Embankment in Malá Strana, just steps from the Vltava River.
After a sensitive restoration that respected the original design by architect František Josef Thomayer, the garden has been transformed into an elegant, well-maintained space. Asphalt paths have been replaced with stylish paving, new trees and over 15,500 flowers have been planted, lawns improved, and a new water fountain installed. The space is now ready not only for official events but also for peaceful public strolls.
The garden also features two exhibition areas for temporary displays. A new highlight this season is an audio guide that visitors can download to their phones. Using QR codes placed throughout the garden, visitors can learn about the history of the garden, its plantings, and Straka Academy itself.
Visits run daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last entry at 5:30 PM. For a relaxed and beautiful outing in the city center, a visit to Straka Academy is an ideal choice. It combines tranquility, historical value, architecture, and floral beauty—right in the heart of Prague.
