Straka Academy garden Open day

The garden of the Straka Academy, the seat of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, is once again opening its gates to the public. Throughout May 2025, visitors are welcome to explore its picturesque grounds every Saturday – specifically on May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, and 31st.

The garden is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last entry at 5:30 PM. The entrance is from Kosárkovo Embankment in Prague 1, just a few steps from the Vltava River.

After an extensive renovation that respectfully followed the original design by architect František Josef Thomayer, the garden has been transformed into a dignified and representative space. Unsightly asphalt paths were replaced with elegant paving, and the area now features over 15,500 flowers, new trees, and a water fountain. The space is designed not only for official functions but also with regular public access in mind.

Part of the new concept includes two exhibition areas for mobile displays, and the garden is now functionally and aesthetically connected to the renovated Kosárkovo Embankment. A new feature this season is an audio guide that visitors can download to their mobile phones. With the help of an app and QR codes placed throughout the area, guests can learn about the history of the garden, its plants, and the Straka Academy itself.
