Prague May Festival

Prague Majáles 2025 will take place on Saturday, April 26, at the Letňany Airport in Prague 9 and promises a full-day celebration of student life, music, creativity, and tradition.

This event, with roots dating back to the Middle Ages, is today one of the largest and most popular student festivals in the Czech Republic. It combines the traditional allegorical student parade with a modern open-air festival, creating a unique atmosphere that attracts thousands of young people from all over the country every year.

The main attraction of the event is, of course, the music program, which this year again will offer the best of the current Czech and Slovak scene. On several stages throughout the day, stars such as Redzed, Inekafe, Vypsaná fiXa, No Name, Jamaron, and the legendary Horkýže Slíže will perform. Fans of rap and urban music can look forward to performances by artists like Kontrafakt, Viktor Sheen, Yzomandias, Calin, Ektor, Dorian & Grey256, STEIN27, and Sofian Medjmedj.

But it’s not just about music – an integral part of Majáles is also the festive parade of allegorical floats, which departs from the city center towards the Letňany area. The parade is attended by students from various universities, often in costumes and with creatively themed floats. During the parade, there is a competition for the best masks, creativity, and execution, and this colorful procession completes the festive atmosphere of the entire day. The highlight of this tradition is the symbolic election of the King and Queen of Majáles, who represent the student voice and freedom for the entire following year.

Majáles will also feature an accompanying program including student zones, discussion tents, chill-out spaces, food courts, interactive workshops, and opportunities to join in contests or art activities. The festival prides itself on its friendly and open atmosphere, welcoming everyone – not just students but also the general public who want to soak up the spring energy and youthful spirit.
