Open Day at Prague Castle

On April 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, you’ll have a unique opportunity to walk through the representative halls of Prague Castle free of charge – areas that are normally closed to the public.

The Spring Open Day invites visitors to enjoy beautifully decorated interiors, a rich program, and the chance to step inside spaces where history is made.

The tour begins at the Matthias Gate and will take you through areas such as Plečnik’s Pillared Hall, Rothmayer Hall, the iconic Spanish Hall, Rudolf Gallery, as well as the Throne Hall, Habsburg Salon, and other historic rooms. The decorations will feature hundreds of spring flowers – tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and more, all arranged by the castle’s decorators. You’ll also visit the halls where President Petr Pavel welcomes foreign guests and official meetings take place.

In addition to the representative spaces, visitors will also have free access to permanent exhibitions – including St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, St. George’s Basilica, the castle gardens, and the new exhibition “Gifts for the President from Near and Far” in the Rosenberg Palace, which opened this January.

Please note: The cathedral’s observation tower and the Franta exhibition will not be accessible for free. Strollers and large luggage are not allowed in the representative halls, so we recommend arriving light.
