From March 26 to March 29, 2025, the 17th edition of the Bulgarian Film Festival will take place at the legendary Lucerna Cinema in Prague.
This unique festival annually brings the latest Bulgarian feature and documentary films to the Czech Republic, showcasing works that have appeared at prestigious international festivals and in cinemas across Bulgaria. All films will be screened in their original language with Czech and English subtitles.
This year’s edition will feature a special tribute to Alzek Misheff, marking a unique return to documentary film. A notable trend in Bulgarian cinema is the increasing presence of female directors—Magdalena Ralcheva, Yana Lekarska, and Maria Averina will present their latest films at the festival. In addition, audiences can look forward to meetings with actors, actresses, and other film creators.
The festival is organized by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Prague, the official cultural institution of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Czech Republic. Its mission is to promote Bulgarian culture and cinema not only in the capital but throughout the country.
