The International Human Rights Film Festival One World will take place in Prague from March 11 to 19, 2026, once again transforming the capital into a space for powerful stories, open discussions, and exceptional cinematic experiences.
As the largest human rights film festival in the world, organized by the NGO People in Need, One World annually presents documentary and fiction films that reflect current social issues and raise questions of freedom, justice, identity, and responsibility.
The program offers a wide range of films – from political cases and stories of defenders of democracy to social topics, environmental challenges, and personal testimonies about relationships, migration, and generational conflicts. While documentaries remain at the core of the festival, selected fiction films also broaden the perspective on human rights through new emotional and narrative dimensions.
The official opening will take place on March 11 at Prague Crossroads with the presentation of the Homo Homini Award, which this year will be awarded to Belarusian politician Mikalaj Statkevich for his long-standing fight for democracy. The evening will culminate in the world premiere of the film Tak to mělo bejt at Lucerna and Světozor cinemas, introduced in person by its protagonist, Hungarian rapper Pogány Induló.
The competition section will feature, for example, The Voice of Hind Rajab, a sensitive reconstruction of the tragic story of a girl from Gaza; Mailin, a documentary investigating a case of sexual abuse in Argentina; and Fox and the Pink Moon, an intimate account of migration and an abusive relationship. The dynamic energy of the younger generation will be highlighted in the portrait of rapper Pogány, capturing his journey from personal struggles to becoming a voice of opposition.
The festival will also include a retrospective of Norwegian documentary filmmaker Gunnar Hall Jensen, whose experimental work explores themes of identity, masculinity, and personal crisis. One World is therefore not only about film screenings, but also about deeper reflection on the state of today’s world and the role of the individual within it. After the Prague edition, selected films will be available on the One World Online platform, and the festival will continue in dozens of other cities across the Czech Republic.
