An evening filled with elegance, dance, and the refined atmosphere of Viennese balls will be offered by the 24th Austrian Ball in Prague, taking place on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM in the representative spaces of Žofín Palace on Slovanský Island.
This prestigious social event is considered one of the most important highlights of Prague’s ball season each year, bringing tradition, style, and the ceremonial spirit of Austrian and Viennese balls to the Czech capital. The Austrian Ball is a popular meeting point for dance enthusiasts as well as figures from cultural, business, and diplomatic circles.
Throughout the evening, classic ball traditions are carefully observed, including a grand ceremonial opening with a formal dance by young couples, the symbolic call “Alles Walzer!” to open the dance floor, and the much-loved midnight quadrille led by Viennese dance master Michael Hysek. Each lady can also look forward to the traditional Damenspende, a small farewell gift.
The musical program promises an exceptional cross-genre experience. Performers include the “Czech Sinatra” Jan Smigmator, the revival band La Sklerosa, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Josef Hlavsa’s Orchestra with singers, pianist Mário Bihári, and DJ Adam Nedvídek. While the main hall will resonate with classic waltzes, the Small Hall will offer more modern rhythms for those who wish to dance until the early morning hours.
Guests can also enjoy a rich social setting featuring Austrian specialties, high-quality Austrian wines, champagne and tapas in the Taittinger Champagner Lounge, or relaxed seating with cocktails in the Wiener Café Bar. Comfort and enjoyment are further enhanced by popular “taxi” dancers, who are happy to accompany ladies without partners or give regular dance partners a short break.
The Austrian Ball offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a festive evening of tradition, music, and dance in one of Prague’s most beautiful historic palaces.
