Vietnam near and far

From the end of April until the end of the next year, you will have the unique opportunity to learn something new about this beautiful country – Vietnam.

The exhibition will be hosted by the Náprstek Museum in Prague and will present the traditional Vietnamese culture and the long history of this country, as well as the current modern Vietnam and the story of the large community living in the Czech Republic. Get to know historical and contemporary Vietnam.

The exhibition consists of three parts:

Vietnam far – introduces you to the history and culture of the country and emphasizes the contrast between traditional and modern Vietnam through period photographs and infographics with maps. It will recall the succession of dynasties, the period of colonization, the eternal struggle for independence and the complex 20th century, including the long-lasting conflict, which was accompanied by many war crimes.

Vietnam near – offers a view of the Vietnamese minority living in the Czech Republic, and in addition to symbolic objects, it contains an extensive multimedia section.

Vietnam & Czechia – focuses on the relations between the two countries and Czech exploration of Vietnam and Indochina. Among everyday objects and decorative items, such as jewellery, clothing and accessories, traditional dining aids, musical instruments, toys and statuettes and much more.
