Royal Day at Vyšehrad is a celebration marking this year’s 940th anniversary of the coronation of the first Czech king, Vrastislav. The celebration will bring the story of King Vrastislav to life through a procession featuring the king and his entourage.

It was he, together with his wife Svatava of Poland, who transformed Vyšehrad into a symbol of the Přemyslid dynasty’s power. As part of the event, King Vratislav II will arrive at the Royal Quarter in Vyšehrad Park twice, accompanied by his large retinue. In addition to his ceremonial welcome, visitors can look forward to a parade of the retinue, combat demonstrations, and the opportunity to have their children participate in medieval training. The Royal Quarter at Vyšehrad will be transformed into a medieval camp and a venue for many period crafts for the entire day.

There will also be martial arts demonstrations and interactive activities for children. You can enjoy the program twice during the day—once in the morning and once in the afternoon. On this occasion, St. Peter and Paul Basilica, St. Lawrence Basilica, and the surrounding archaeological sites will be open to the public as a special exception.

9:45 a.m. – Start of the royal procession at the Infocenter

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Ceremonial welcome at the Royal Precinct
